Today I'll talk about decoupage. Not about some decoupage, but about the Royal decoupage by Jelena Car, a good friend of mine (originally Carski decoupage, a pun in Serbian, since "carski" in Serbian is royal, and "car" is an emperor). Jelena is a woman of several talents, who sews and decorates boxes, furniture, accessories and various stuff which she gets her hands on.
We met last year, after an interesting and inspiring chat via Facebook, during which we discovered we shared the same passion towards sewing. Out first meet up was a love at first sight, we chatted for 5-6 hours about this and that, without noticing the time went by.
We've been friends from that point on, exchanging advice, ideas and techniques, and enjoying our friendship. A couple of days ago we met for another marathon coffee, and imagine my surprise when I got from her these two gorgeous items, decorated using the decoupage technique.
This is a pin cushion, designed to be hanged on a wall. Jelena's idea was that every dressmaker has a problem with pins scattered around the house, even when the sewing is completed and sewing tools packed away. This gorgeous pin cushion is very practical, as it is a right place for all the strayed pins, until the sewing tolls are unpacked again an ready to be used.
More interesting, the case was I spotted the cushion the moment Jelena put it's picture to Facebook, and before I knew it was made specially for me :-).
Apsolutno predivno!
A box with a painted motif of the Singer sewing machine is a gift for any seamstress. It should store bobbins, needles and threads under the sliding lid. Absolutely gorgeous!
Veliko hvala Jeleni na divnim poklonima i na sjajnom prijateljstvu!
I owe a big thank you to Jelena for the lovely gifts and our great friendship!
