MMM '11: Dan 28 / Day 28

Dan dvadeset osmi:

• Bluza - kroj iz Burde 10/2004, #116.
  Devojka mog brata mi je poklonila gomilu materijala, pošto su njoj bili beskorisni (ona ne šije), i nisu joj se sviđali. Pa, meni su bili sjajni :). Ovaj bledo žuti - zlatni saten mi je odmah zapao za oko. Imala sam taman toliko materijala da napravim bluzu sa kratkim rukavima. Dugmad sam dobila od tetke, a zlatna trakica je ostatak od prethodnog šivenja.
  Kroj sam dosta izmenila - dodala sam brusne na prednem delu, kako bih strukirala bluzu, i morala sam dosta da je suzim oko struka duž bočnih šavova. Takođe, napravila sam brusnu po sredini leđa. Svukupno, suzila sam originalan kroj za 10cm u predelu struka! Na kraju, skratila sam bluzu za 6cm, pošto je bila preduga. Krajnji rezultat je ova bluza, koja mi se jako dopada.

Day twenty eight:

• Blouse - BWOF 10/2004, #116 pattern. 
  My brother’s girlfriend gave me a bunch of fabrics  as she found them useless (she doesn’t sew), and she didn’t like them. Well, I loved them :). This pale yellow – golden satin caught my eye instantly. I had just enough for a short sleeves blouse. Buttons I used were given to me by my aunt, and the golden lace is a leftover from the previous project I had worked on. 
  I altered the original pattern by adding front darts, to accentuate my waist more, and I had to narrow the blouse a lot (my standard problem with BWOF blouse patterns) on the side seams and I added a back dart (I narrowed the blouse by 10cm in the waist area!). Finally, I shortened the blouse by 6cm, since it was too long. I really like the result.

Braon somotski kaput / The brown corduroy coat

Za vikend sam završila braon kaput, o kome sam pisala pre neki dan.  Nisam imala puno posla na njemu, budići da je kaput bio gotovo dovršen. Da bih ga porubila, dokupila sam malo braon somota približne boje i debljine, isekla traku širine 7cm i našila je na liniju poruba. Dalje sam radila sve isto kao i obično što radim na kaputima i jaknama.

During the weekend I finished the brown coat that I wrote about the other day. I didn't have much work with it, since it had been almost finished. To hem it, I bought a piece of corduroy of the similar weight and color, then I cut a strip 7cm wide and stitched it to the coat;s hemline. From that point on I finished it the same way I usually finish all jackets and coats.

A evo još jedne nedovršene jakne kojoj bi trebalo da se posvetim. Ovu jaknu sam počela da šijem prošle godine, a namenjena je mojoj mami. U pitanju je kroj iz Burde 08/2009, #119.

Nedovršen posao / Unfinished business

Ovo je kaput koji stoji nedovršen u mom ormanu već godinu dana. U pitanju je kroj iz Burde 9/2003, #107. Kaput sam počela da šijem krajem 2009. godine i skoro da je gotov, ali nikako da se nakanim da ga dovršim.

Obično šijem stvari u jednom dahu, posebno kada mi se jako dopadaju (što je slučaj sa ovim kaputom), ali sam stala sa radom kada sam shvatila da sam kaput previše skratila. Trenutna dužina koju ima, ovako neporubljen, je idealna, ali će porub oduzeti par santimetara od dužine, pa će kaput biti iznad kolena. Još tada sam smislila kako da rešim problem - našivanjem trake koja bi predstavljala falš porub, ali mi je falilo parče tkanine odgovarajuće boje i debljine. 

Kaput je od sitnog somota, koji gotovo da liči na pliš, a postavljen je zlatnim satenom. Ono što je preostalo da uradim je da malo skratim rukave, da porubim kaput, da preštepam ivice i prišijem dugmad. To zaista nije mnogo posla, ali nisam uspela da se nateram da to odradim. Ponadala sam se da ću, ako postavim slike i tekst na blog, samu sebe izazvati da dovršim započeto.

This is a coat that's been sitting unfinished in my closet for more than a year. It's BWOF 9/2003, #107 pattern. I started sewing it back in 2009, and it's almost done, but I can't seem to make myself to finish it.

I usually sew in a heartbeat, especially when I like the garment I'm sewing (and that is the case this time), but I stopped sewing the coat when I realized I cropped the coat too much. Its current length is ideal now, when the coat isn't hemmed, but hemming it will reduce the length by few centimeters, and the coat will be above knees. Back then I knew there was a simple solution to the problem - sewing on a strip of fabric onto the hemline thus making a new, faux hemline. However, I lacked a piece of fabric of the right color and weight. 

The coat is made of thin corduroy that almost feels like velvet, and the lining is golden satin. Here's what's left to do on the coat: to shorten the sleeves a bit, to hem the coat, to topstitch the edges, and sew on the buttons. It's not much work, but I haven't forced myself to do it. I thought that, if I post about it, I'll force myself to finish the started.
